Here we go

I reckon that Jesus calls us as disciples to go in head first.

Risky.

Vulnerable.

Exciting.

Essential.

Honest.

Growing.

Courageous.

You see, we live in a society of insurances. We need the assurance that all is fine and if it goes wrong it's OK 'because I'm covered by my insurance'. Where have the people willing to risk everything gone?

All or nothing kind of people, where are they?

I read a famous saying by a guy called Oscar Schindler that goes something like "he who saves a single life, saves the world entire. That really is quite thought provoking especial in the context in which it was said.

We many times forget that Jesus was one of us also; human just like you and I. He risked everything for us and if we call ourselves his followers we must be risking everything for 'them' too.

I reckon this is biblical, don't you?

What are you waiting for?

Risk it! whatever it is.

You're insured and assured. Seriously, you are!

Cynical

Cynical: a) Believing or showing the belief that people are motivated chiefly by base or selfish concerns; skeptical of the motives of others: a cynical dismissal of the politician's promise to reform the campaign finance system.
b) Selfishly or callously calculating: showed a cynical disregard for the safety of his troops in his efforts to advance his reputation.
c) Negative or pessimistic, as from world-weariness: a cynical view of the average voter's intelligence.

I'm not sure about you - but again this might only be my cynical ego telling me something - but I find it so easy to stand at the back and criticise; become the smart one trying to sort the world and its problems out. I find it easy to be proud of my own skepticism and isolate myself in my own little world. Skeptical of society, weather, family, jobs, friends, world, poverty, God and even of my own thoughts. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE IN ANYTHING NOWADAYS, ISN'T IT?

You read the papers, watch the news, try to get a project going in your community, save energy but no it is freaking hard to get it going; it is hard to believe it is possible. I may be talking rubish here, but I may not.

My boss is the a very optimistic person, a real visionary and after the heart of God. He really believes in people and in the redeeming power of Christ in us. My boss is not the 'usual smart ass', snazzy, trendy type of guy but he is someone after the heart of God big time. He always believes it is possible even when faced by the most bizzare circunstances ever.

I imagine Jesus on the Cross though, on a human side of things, what he must have thought about the world and all the effort he put into making a positve difference, was it wasted? You know what amazes me is the fact that the dude on the cross next to him sew an extent of HOPE in Jesus that made him believe.

Both of them on the Cross.

Dying.

Hopelessly weak.

They had the guts/courage/boldness to believe.

That's how the conversation goes :

Luke23:42-43 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom."
He said, "Don't worry, I will. Today you will join me in paradise."

Don't let the your shit circunstaces take your courage away from you.

It is easy to become cynical. Don't go there.

But it takes courage to belive.
